Kettle Moraine High School (KMHS) is a
secondary school located in
Wales, Wisconsin, accredited by the North Central Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges. It serves students from Delafield, Dousman, Eagle, Genesee, North Prairie, Ottawa, Sullivan, Summit, and Wales. Kettle Moraine was named a
National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 2002 by the
U.S. Department of Education.
Athletic Programs
Kettle Moraine supports 15 boys' and 12 girls' interscholastic athletic programs in the
Classic 8 Conference. A few of Kettle Moraine's teams compete jointly with other schools in the Classic 8 in order to field a more competitive team. Those teams include the boy's and girl's swimming and diving teams, who are paired with Waukesha North, and the boy's hockey team, who team up with Mukwanago.Kettle Moraine also features a boy's lacrosse team which was started in the spring of 2007. They compete in the Milwaukee Area Lacrosse Conference along with area rivals Oconomowoc, Hartland Arrowhead and others.
The Laser football team, which currently competes in Division II of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA), was defeated by Milton in the first round of the 2007 state playoffs. The KM/Mukwanago hockey team also lost in the first round of the 2007 state playoffs. Their cheerleaders did very well in 2007-2008 year. They went to state with their traditional routine and placed third. With their cheer dance they got 4th. The Varsity Dance team also went to state placing 6th in their hip hop routine. Early in 2008, both boys and girls alpine ski team qualified for the state meet. The girls team placed first in state bringing home yet another first place finish, while the boys team took third, the first boys team from KM to place at state. The Laser basketball team beat Waukesha West and Menomonie Falls to win regionals, then lost to Vincent in sectionals.
Clubs and after-school activities
KM has one of the largest
DECA clubs in the state, and just hosted the regional competition. Other clubs include the Academic Decathlon, Chess Club, Drama Club, Ping Pong Club, Meditation Club, Best Buddies, Global Action, Model UN, Gay/Straight Alliance, Intramural Sports, Spanish Club, French Club, German Club, Japanese Club, Caretakers for the Environment, and Two FRC Robotics Teams.
Dick Ohm Merit Award
The Dick Ohm Merit Award, which is named after a former principal at the school, is given to one student in each grade every year. It recognizes students that meet the following standards:

b. Exhibit positive attitude in class
» c. Perform service for school/community
d. Show leadership through good behavior and citizenship during the school year
